Lifebuoy Friendship Hospital provides flood relief
The Lifebuoy Friendship Hospital has distributed relief material worth Taka 10 lakhs to flood affected people in Char Bakuria, Khatiamari, Nichintopur, Ziadanga, Bage of Gaibandha District. The relief material was in the form of packs containing Chal, Dal, Sugar, Salt, Suji, ORS and Water purifying tablets and is being distributed off the floating hospital. It may be recalled that the Lifebuoy Friendship Hospital is a joint initiative between Unilever Bangladesh Ltd and the humanitarian group “Friendship” wherein abarge was converted into a floating hospital that has been extending basic health care facilities to the people of hard to reach areas of Bangladesh. The floating hospital anchors at different chars (sand banks) of Northern Bangladesh, where there is no road access and proper medical facilities are hard to come by.
Recently, Unilever Bangladesh managers also contributed from their salary to provide relief materials to the flood affected people in fourteen different areas across the country through their regional offices in Dhaka, Sylhet, Bogra and Khulna. Unilever Bangladesh also handed over a cheque for Taka 20 lakhs to the Chief Advisor, Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmed, towards the flood relief fund at his office earlier this month.
