Asian University for Women (AUW)
Asian University for Women (AUW) is a part of a pilot project of the World Bank that provides world class, quality higher education to women in Asia. An international network of proven leaders in the educational, financial, and developmental sectors have guided to develop this university which is situated in Chittagong.
In May 2007, Unilever Bangladesh Limited agreed to create the “Unilever Bangladesh Scholarship” at AUW. This scholarship fund enables two Bangladeshi nationals to study on full scholarship for five years at the University. The University’s Access Academy, its subsidized education program, opened in August 2008 with the first batch starting in 2009.
Unilever places great importance on education. The Company believes that through improved education, people can become change agents in the society. The recipients of this scholarship are ones who demonstrate both academic excellence and the potential to become leaders, decision-makers and opinion-formers in their own country. Hence with their initiative, UBL expects to work towards a better future for Bangladesh.
