Unilever Bangladesh Limited has been honoured with the Standard Chartered Bank – Financial Express CSR award for its innovative Project Laser Beam, which provides a holistic solution to tackle child malnutrition.

Unilever bagged the winning award at the 5th Standard Chartered Bank-Financial Express CSR Awards for its efforts in eradicating malnutrition with Project Laser Beam (PLB). Laser Beam was recognized for the innovativeness of the project and the holistic approach of addressing food, water, health and livelihood to tackle the issue of child malnutrition.

PLB, a multi-partner, multi-dimension project at Shatkhira, Khulna is focusing on developing a model to eradicate child malnutrition by addressing both the direct and underlying causes of malnutrition. This includes interventions and behavioral guidance programs regarding not only food but also health, sanitation and livelihood.

Unilever is partnering with WFP, WaterAid, Brac, Friendship and Jita to run several programs under the Food, Water, Health and Livelihood pillars at Shatkhira to tackle malnutrition from all angles.

This is the second time Unilever has become the winners of SCB-Financial Express CSR awards with the last award won in 2005 for Lifebuoy Friendship Hospital, Fair & Lovely Foundation and Maa O Shishu Hospital.
