Unilever Bangladesh Limited (UBL), the country’s leading Fast-moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company has demonstrated exceptional contributions towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Bangladesh. Its efforts gained industry-wide acclamation at the SDG Brand Champion Awards 2024 held at the Bangladesh Sustainable Summit today. UBL’s trailblasing efforts in Sustainable Partnerships and women’s empowerment earned widespread recognition from industry leaders for their innovation and impact. Additionally, Zaved Akhtar, Chairman and Managing Director of UBL, was the keynote speaker of the Sustainability Summit 2024, attended by more than 450 industry leaders and stakeholders.
At the event, UBL was honoured with two prestigious awards in two categories for its impactful contributions: the ‘Sustainable Partnerships and Institutions’ award for its exemplary public-private partnerships and the ‘Women’s Inclusion and Leadership in Manufacturing’ award for advancing female workforce inclusion in manufacturing. UBL also earned honourable mentions in two additional categories— ‘Responsible Consumption and Production’ for ‘URefill,’ a sustainable packaging solution and ‘Industry Innovation and Infrastructure’ for Chattogram Kalurghat Factory (KGF).
UBL’s largest city corporation-backed initiative to foster a plastic circular economy in Chattogram is driving a significant transformation in the port city’s sustainable environment and plastic waste management. This project was a key highlight of the event. Additionally, UBL’s groundbreaking efforts in creating impactful roles for female employees were recognised, showcasing the company’s consistent dedication to empowering the women’s workforce.
